Assimilation.

Of all job interviews that I've attended, countless actually, I have one interview session which make me re-think of my capability on something that is not about knowledge and skills. So, upon convincing, no I rephrase that to selling myself to, the interviewer about how good and skillful I am, the interviewer then replied to me "We believe that you have a very good technical skills and we have no doubt about it, yet it's not all about the technical know-how, it just how you can assimilate yourself to a new environment, to a new process, to a new way of doing things. So we both should give some space for this rather than 100% percent giving you our trust."

Before we move further, let's have a look on what do a company seeks from an employee:
1. You should get the job done.
2. You should know how to solve problems.
3. You should know how to work with other people.
So everytime you go to an interview, do remember these rule or at least prepare so that you can convince them that you got that 3 things.

Back to business. To date I will be working in 4 companies in the same industries. From first to second company is due to merging of 2 companies. Second to third is due to improving myself. And from third to fourth company is because of better offer. When I was in the second company, I have gotten the job done, being actively involved in the company projects yet the result does not reflect the effort, or should I say my year end performance evaluation showed that I was only a "below expection" staff, let alone of getting any recognition for all the works done. So I moved to the third company. There I was being evaluated as "exceed expection" staff and received a couple of "Departmental Award" as a recognition for my achievement.

So what went wrong during my employment in the second company. And why do I excel in the third company. Some of you might says that it must be of company politics, there's some bias happening there, or it's all about being boss favourite. It might be true, but I wouldn't count so much to that answers. The answer lies within what have been said by the interviewer previously. It's all about assimiliation, companies proccess and collegues. In the third company, the proccess is clearly being defined and recognised all the work you have done. The collegue really enhances each other, which the word synergy is the best term to describe it. I, myself do feel comfortable on how things done there. And that's the reason for me to perform better in the third company.

The big question is now, does this fourth company will catapult my achievement or I will become a lame guy once again. I do not know.
